Narita Airport is Like an Art Gallery!?
Some of the Art that Fills Narita Airport!
As I've mentioned before, there are actually a lot of works of art throughout the passenger terminals at Narita Airport. In this issue, we are going to focus on that artistic side of Narita Airport and introduce you to some of the attractions which are unrelated to travel.
Red & White Camellia/Purple Iris (Ikko Tanaka)
These works adorn the north and south ends of the arrival lobby in Terminal 2. "Red & White Camellia" is found at Arrival Lobby A at the south end and "Purple Iris" is found at Arrival Lobby B at the north end. Both of these are so large they extend from the 1st to the 2nd floor and the color schemes of red and white and purple and green are very eye-catching.

Let's meet at the camellia end of the arrival lobby in Terminal 2" instead of saying "the A end of the lobby" will undoubtedly mark you as an expert on Narita Airport!? Whether or not the other person knows what you are talking about is another matter but give it a try next time you have a chance.

Mini Gallery of Japanese Art (Tokyo National Museum)
If you've ever been to Terminal 1 by train, you'll probably recognize this exhibit. High-resolution printed film featuring masterpieces from the Tokyo National Museum collection are extensively displayed on the walls and ceilings in the middle of the corridor connecting the basement and 1st floors of Terminal 1! You can even see some of the works of the famous Katsushika Hokusai!
I particularly love Hokusai's "The Great Wave" on the ceiling. The waves coming closer and closer as you ride the elevator is a powerful experience. When you enjoy the art, be sure to pay attention to your surroundings and not become distracted by the masterpieces.

This Gallery is presented in cooperation with 3M Japan Limited, Tokyo National Museum, and Narita International Airport Corporation.
What do you think? Airports are generally identified with travel but I hope we have shown you a completely new aspect!

Wanted! Photos for our Eco-Photo Gallery
We are now calling for entries for the Narita Airport Eco-Photo Gallery 2021!
Every year we receive many applications for this project, which allows people to get a closer look at environmental initiatives at Narita Airport while having fun at the same time.

The theme of the photos will be "photos of the beautiful natural environment around Narita Airport" or "photos linking eco efforts with Narita Airport and aircraft".
It does not matter when the work was taken, as long as it has not been published previously (i.e., has not been entered or selected in any other contest).
Why not take this opportunity to look back through your data files?

Winning entries will be displayed in the NAA Art Gallery in Terminal 1 and also on the Eco-Airport Development and Planning Council website.
Also, those selected for the Chairman's Award and the Special Judging Panel Award will receive travel vouchers and other winners will receive an original product from Narita International Airport.
We are looking forward to lots of wonderful photos!
