Introducing the revamped Narita International Airport official website!
This past February, Narita International Airport's official website underwent a full revamp in order to make it more user-friendly for airport visitors. Guided by the concept "Creating a convenient website that's easier to read and easier to use!", the website team has added some new functionality. Today, we'll be introducing three key features of the redesigned website.
Feature 1: A structure that prioritizes accessibility

Nowadays, our diverse airport visitors commonly access the web using a variety of devices and from assorted environments. Accordingly, the new website is structured to be easy for anyone to read and easy to use on any kind of mobile device. As well as a simple design, a good contrast ratio between text and background colors, and prominent positioning of the most essential information, the website has been designed with a high regard for accessibility, including a basic vertical arrangement. It is also compliant with Level AA* of the JIS web accessibility standard.

Enlisting the assistance of people with disabilities as well, the website team conducted various accessibility evaluation tests of the website and made improvements.

*Japanese Industrial Standard on Web Accessibility JIS X X8341-3:2016 (official name: Guidelines for older persons and persons with disabilities - Information and communications equipment, software and services - Part 3: Web content) Level AA

Feature 2: Introduction of an interactive map

Until now, most of you have probably looked at the route search devices and floor guides in the terminals when shopping or looking for service facilities at the airport.
In the recent website revamp, we introduced an interactive map function that enables airport visitors to use their own smartphone or other device to identify where they are currently* and search for a route to the place they want to go!
It also has an Elevator Priority Route function, which ensures even visitors with small children, wheelchair users, and people with heavy luggage can use it with peace of mind.

When you click on the pin for a store on the map, you'll find a button that takes you to a page showing detailed store information, so you can find out more about the store at the same time! Conversely, you can navigate from the detailed store information page to the map, which makes the search function incredibly user-friendly.

*As of March 2024, this is available on devices equipped with iOS
Feature 3: Greater convenience thanks to the My Flight function

It's helpful to be able to find out about flight delays or cancellations easily, whether you're meeting friends or family off a flight or going on a trip yourself. The new website is equipped with a My Flight function allowing you to register your email address to receive notifications with information about a particular flight, including details of alterations to the flight time or gate number, and alerts when boarding procedures begin (available only for flights departing from Narita Airport)!

To use this feature, search for the flight you want to check under "Departing flights," "Arriving flights," or "Search today's flights," then click on "Receive update of flight information by email" on the detailed flight information page and register your email address.

<Information updates available>
  • Notification of changes to departure or arrival time
  • Alerts when boarding procedures begin (available only when boarding flights departing from Narita Airport)
  • Alerts when boarding procedures are about to end (available only when boarding flights departing from Narita Airport)
  • Notification of flight cancellations
  • Notification of changes to departure or arrival gates

[ Message from the website coordinator ]

We've overhauled the Narita International Airport official website for the first time in seven years. In the revamp, we've prioritized the convenience of our users with a design that enables anyone to instantly access the information they need, whatever device they're using. Narita International Airport's official website is now easier to use, easier to read, and more convenient, so we hope you'll make use of it!

Sharing information to help you get to know NAA better!

We use Narita Airport's official Instagram account to share information about the airport and attractions in the surrounding area, but in September last year, we also opened an account for the company, Narita International Airport Corporation (NAA). Run by young staff members who belong to the NAA Visibility Project*, this channel differs from the official airport account in that it shares information about the appeal of the company that runs the airport, including introductions to obscurely interesting airport facilities and equipment, and interviews with NAA employees!

*A project involving nine young staff members, aimed at increasing awareness and recognition of Narita International Airport Corporation (NAA).
The NAA Instagram account can be found here:

While you're likely familiar with the airport, some of you might be wondering what an airport company actually does. If you want to learn more about working at the airport or for the airport company, or you'd like to work at the airport yourself, please do check out this account!

- Here's an example of an article from the NAA Instagram page -
<Introducing Narita Airport's fuel facilities>
Aviation fuel is essential to aircraft operation, but do you know how aircraft are refueled?
After being shipped by sea from oil refineries within Japan to the Port of Chiba, aviation fuel is pumped through a dedicated underground pipeline that runs the 47 km or so from the port to Narita Airport! Aviation fuel stored in tanks beside the runway is ultimately transported to a point directly below the aircraft, which is refueled using a vehicle called a fuel hydrant dispenser.
Has that piqued your curiosity to learn more? If so, please do follow the NAA Instagram account!
